We added the doors to the garden in this study because the room benefits from morning light. It opens to the kitchen on the right and a hall opposite the doors. The inspiration for the decoration was the garden beyond so we used foliage wallpaper and fabrics by William Morris. A pair of consoles by Tom Faulkner frame the doors.
This study in a new build house sits between the master bedroom and a secondary sitting area. It is divided by a dual aspect gas fire with windows looking to the garden. The floorboards vary in size to emphasise the length of the space. The desk chair is by B&B Italia.
We lined the walls of this room with oak to define it as a space separate from the rest of the house by materials, as well as a metal screen and door. The ceiling is lined with limed timber and the floor is limestone. We combined the client’s antique desk with a rug by Luke Irwin.
The use of a daybed in this study makes it a place to relax as well as work. The walls are lined in linen wallpaper to create a backdrop for some of the client’s pictures. We also wallpapered the ceiling to create an enveloping effect. The room is entered through a timber and glass screen.
The study in this new build house has a vaulted ceiling, with an arched door into the room echoing the curve. The coving around the room conceals the curtain track and also defines the joinery. The desk inspired the detailing of the shelving and storage behind it.
