This kitchen runs across the rear of the house with doors opening to a south-facing terrace. It has a curved bay window at one end that benefits from light throughout the day and the working area at the other. The ceiling is curved with lighting hidden inside the coving. There are windows on three sides of the room to allow light from morning to late evening. The decoration reflects this airy atmosphere with cabinets by bulthaup with an island clad in marble. The dining table is by Emmemobili.
This kitchen in a house by the sea was inspired by the interiors of yachts with wood, curves and small details such as railed shelves and leather handles. The mottled green vertical supports are made from Corian and the wall above the sink area is mirrored to reflect light and views.
The cabinets to the rear of this kitchen were designed to be unobtrusive and allow the red island to come to the fore. The door to the left opens to a utility room. The kitchen faces the dining area of the house. The pendant over the island is by Viabizzuno and a light sculpture by Niamh Barry hangs in front of it.
For the kitchen of a small apartment we created storage from space taken from a hall and created a small laundry room behind one of the panelled doors. The kitchen is defined by a bulkhead with downlights.
The client in this project wanted a kitchen that was quirky and fun. We took inspiration from the style of bars in French cafes and created a red lacquered island with sloped sides and a marble countertop. The subway tiles, brass rail shelf and mirrored panels have the same reference.
As part of new additions to a 1830s house we created a double height kitchen space. The clerestory windows allow morning and evening light to fill the room. The focus is an oversized window with an apple tree growing beyond it. The starting concept was that the client could reach out the window and pick one of the apples it produces. The middle of the kitchen elevation is set back to create a lighter appearance. The island is oak and the splash-back is delft tiles.
This kitchen is a newly built addition to a Victorian house. The ceiling is curved with lay-lights over the table. The basin area is set back into a recess and the cabinets are painted very dark green. The bay window at one end holds a seating area. The off-white cabinets on one side of the room contain the larder and fridge. The client did not want an island and this helped create a more traditional look.
The client in this project wanted to keep the existing kitchen, which had highly functional storage, but update it’s appearance. It had been painted green with gilded details. We changed this to a creamy shade, using a darker tone of the same colour on the walls to create definition. The main strength of the room was large windows to the garden and these soft colours allow it remain to the focus. The island was repainted pale blue. The original stone countertops were replaced with marble and a new timber floor laid.
